This is my first
involvement and email regarding Camp
Forrest. My brother and I are seeking
information about our Mother and I want to
find ‘Camp connections’ if they are out
there.
Her name was
Johnnie Lorene Campbell and she worked at
the commissary (I think 1942-43 timeframe).
She met and married John Lonick from
Pennsylvania, a paratrooper I believe, in
1943. He lived only months after they
married. In 1947, my Mother married my
father whom she had known since childhood. They were married 38 years and he died in
1985. She was a private person who was
hesitant to talk about her first marriage.
She died in 2005 at the age of 90.
I have her Camp
Forrest memory book (no pictures) which is
full of written messages from people she met
there. I also have a picture of John Lonick.
How do you
suggest I go forward?
