I've just begun to write my own personal memoirs of the time I spent in Camp Forrest: from October 1942 to February 1946, and in doing so happened upon your excellent website.  During that time I made many friends in Tullahoma, friends I kept in touch with over the the years.  Sadly they have all passed away.  As I progress with my memoirs I hope to keep in touch with you.

 

Here is a picture of the Post Headquarters where I worked.  This is one of the earliest of the then new Kodachrome transparencies and was taken either in 1943 or 1944.

I'll try to come up with some recollections that might be of interest; however most of my memories deal with specific persons and I would be chary of mentioning their names, as I'm sure you understand.

Here is a little more Camp Forrest information for your new website, which looks good.

 

When I arrived at the camp in October 1942  I was assigned to Company L, 317th Infantry Regiment of the 80^th Division.

 

I’m attaching two pictures that were taken in the “Day Room” of Company L showing some soldiers relaxing. I don’t know the names of two men playing checkers, only that the one on the right was the company mail orderly. Also a couple of pencil sketches I made, one of the barracks area at dawn, and the other of a crap game.

 

I’ll try to come up with more info if I can.
