Dear Sir,
I am a
60-year-old retired teacher in Elyria, Ohio;
about 25 miles west of Cleveland.
My retirement
last year has enabled me to re-visit other
long-held interests; chief among them the
music and career of the late band leader and
American musician, Glenn Miller.
Research
indicates that Glenn Miller saluted the men
of Camp Forest by airing their request of
'Chattanooga Choo Choo' during Miller's
wildly popular, coast-to-coast radio
program, 'Glenn Miller's Sunset Serenade' on
the afternoon of Dec. 27, 1941. For their
efforts the men received a beautiful
radio/phonograph combination with records (
fifty ) for the Camp's recreational
facility.
I would like to
know if there are any articles,
announcements of this Miller connection as
might be found in microfilms of Camp Forest
newspapers from that time period? If so I'd
like to initiate a 'search and copy'
procedure, at my expense.
Thank you for your time, interest and
consideration.
Respectfully,
Glenn Mittler
