I collect old books from thrift stores &
estate sales. The inscriptions can be
interesting as are items left in them as
bookmarks or mementos.
I came across one recently that I keep
looking at & googling because I feel like
there's a mystery or back story there.
The book is called The Strange Woman . It
was signed by two men on the inside cover.
Natalias Micci and Clyde Schaeffer, 12/20/42
Camp Forest TN
Of course, it appears to be a Christmas gift
given the date, but to whom? The subject
matter of the book ( a manipulative woman)
could mean they are giving some advice to a
friend?
Since they have different names, it doesn't
seem like a gift to a relative - maybe it's
to their superior officer?
Were they friends or just coworkers?
I can't find either man's name in relation
to Camp Forrest online.
While surfing the web, I came across your
site. I'm attaching the inscription in case
anyone remembers these men. |
