Doing research for book |
|
Dear Steve:
thanks for your quick reply. I am
interested on the German POW's because I
live in Germany. For my book research
project I have interviewed two soldiers. One
was stationed on Camp Forest and the other
one in a different camp.
What prompted me to contact you was the fact
that I might be able to tide two German POW
who were stationed there about the same
time.
You might ask, what prompted me to do this
research project? Well, I married a German
and have been living in Germany for the past
four years. I came here with a big
misconception of Germans and their ways. I
found many friendly and helpful people. I
have made many German friends and hang out
with some of the old ones.
Near by our home is an old WWII bunker. The
curiosity about this bunker started this
project. I started asking questions and one
thing led to the other and before I knew it,
my project took a live of its own.
It is my goal to interview at least 12
Germans who are willing to share their
stories with me in an anonymous basis. The
stories I have heard are extremely
interesting and painful to hear, too. I am a
very sensible person and had held my tears
back in some of the stories. Other stories
are interesting with funny stories inside
the big sad stories.
I wish the world understand that not all
Germans were Nazi. Many German risked their
life trying to protect the Jews and even
opposing the system.
Your site helped me to find several people
who might be able to help me with my
research.
The gentleman I am talking about his Mrs.
Reissmann. You have an extensive collection
of documents provided by his son, Wolfgang.
I already contacted him with the hope he
replies, too. There is a big possibility
that his dad and my soldier friend were
together at Camp Forest. I will be nice to
hear his side of the story.
Keep up with that site. It's taking a life
of its own and might be able to help many
more people.
May God bless you and give you help so you
continue to be a tool for others.

Tannia,
Let me explain a couple of things about
www.campforrest.com.
What started out to be a small part of my
major web site (www.blountweb.com)
turned into a great place for people to
communicate and search for friends, etc. I
manage around 75 domains and did not have
much time to put in developing and keep up
with the submissions and email. I did the
campforrest.com about 8 months ago (I think)
and I have had a wonderful time being able
to post requests from those seeking answers
to their questions.
To answer your question, no I was never
there. I felt led to do this site because I
was a military brat and my dad was a POW in
Korea for a little over 3 years. Not many of
them left… I miss the older generations…
understanding and wisdom is going by the
wayside. Please send me some questions you
might have for those which enter the web
site and I will be happy to post them for
you.
I pray you have much success Tannia.

Dear Steve:
Today I came across your website while doing
some research for my WIII book research
project. I already contacted one of your
contributors who lives in Germany and whose
father was stationed there. Last year I
interviewed a soldier who was also stationed
there in 1945 and later on transferred to
France. I also borrowed some pics from him
and scanned those I think will add deepness
to my book. I am hoping I can work with
him. I don't know where he lives in Germany
but hopefully not far away from my town.
The world is truly small and God has opened
many doors for me in the most incredible
places. God bless you for your site.
If I understood correctly the site, you
worked there, right? I would like to
communicate with you, if possible, regarding
this POW post.
I thank you in advance
Tannia E.
